A bit off topic. Just watched (and listened) to Nicki Minaj’s Stupid Hoe for the first time and I’m not sure if I have faith in the future of mainstream music anymore. It just baffled me how people can listen to this, I actually thought it was a joke but to my dismay it is a real ‘song’ with real ‘lyrics’.
A real joke song with real joke lyrics, perhaps? I think people are taking this too seriously, and it seems pretty obvious to me that this artist isn’t. While it’s a shame that she isn’t taking her music seriously, I doubt that the fact that this song is utterly immature and nonsensical is lost on Nicki Minaj. I feel as though consumers of music take things at face value too quickly, which is odd, because music isn’t really a medium that is all that straightforward.
